KUNZITE
Reference stone from the laboratory archive. This page is for species recognition; it is not a numbered GRA report.
Kunzite is the best-known variety of the mineral spodumene. Its lilac-to-pink color is prized in jewelry, but the hue can fade with prolonged strong light — a handling note trade professionals keep in mind.
Spodumene also includes green hiddenite. Separating kunzite from look-alike pink stones belongs on the laboratory bench: refractive behaviour, spectrum and magnification support the written identity on a GRA report.
This archive page helps you recognize the species. For a specific stone, verify the printed certificate number on the Certificate page.
