CITRINE
Reference stone from the laboratory archive. This page is for species recognition; it is not a numbered GRA report.
Citrine is rare in nature. In the days before modern gemology, yellow quartz was often confused with topaz. Today the trade still needs clear language: natural citrine, heated amethyst sold as citrine, and other yellow look-alikes.
Gemstone Laboratory documents identity and treatments so manufacturers and dealers share one description. Color alone is never enough.
