FANCY COLOR DIAMOND
Reference stone from the laboratory archive. This page is for species recognition; it is not a numbered GRA report.
Gem diamonds in the usual near-colorless range are graded on a different scale from fancy-color diamonds. Once a stone enters the fancy range, hue, tone and saturation drive value more than subtle differences in the D-to-Z ladder.
Laboratory reports give the market a shared vocabulary for yellow, pink, blue and other fancy colors — and for treatments that alter appearance.
